Academic & Professional Contributions
Prof Pradeep Bhandari trained in the UK and Japan as a Gastroenterologist with a special interest in Advanced Endoscopy. He has been working at Portsmouth University Hospital as a Consultant Gastroenterologist since 2004 and more recently at the Mayo Clinic (London) and Cleveland Clinic (London) as a Consulting Gastroenterologist. He is the Vice President of the British Society of Gastroenterology(BSG) and has been the Chair of the research committee of the European society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy(ESGE) and the British Society of Gastroenterology (BSG).
Role in Endoport
He is one of the pioneers of advanced endoscopic resection and introduced the ESD service in the UK back in 2006 after returning from his fellowship in Japan. He recognised the need for teaching and training in advanced endoscopy and started an annual endoscopy congress with live streaming of cases in 2006. This event manages to attract a lot of expert faculties from all parts of the world who share their knowledge, skills, wisdom and experience with the delegates. Endoport attracts delegates from a wide variety of countries and from a wide variety of expertise and skills as the program is designed to cater to everyone’s needs. Endoport addresses basic issues in endoscopy as well as throws light on advances in endoscopy. The most popular part of the program is Video case-based discussion. The aim is to provide an informal platform for endoscopy related discussion and help develop clinical and research networks between delegates, faculty and industry.
